In the fall of 2012, Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). Shortly thereafter, the Colts initiated a fund-raising campaign called CHUCKSTRONG. Through the sales of CHUCKSTRONG T-shirts and wrist bands and donations collected to honor two Colts cheerleaders who shaved their heads, $454,600 was raised as fans were quick to support the campaign. In all, 18,603 T-shirts and 22,038 wrist bands were sold.
In the spring of 2013, the Colts continued to support IU cancer research in honor of Coach Pagano through the CHUCKSTRONG Tailgate Gala. In just two years, this interactive gala event has raised more than $1.3 million through corporate sponsorships, live and silent auctions and challenges issued by the coach in which he and his wife, Tina, contributed matching gifts.
The third annual CHUCKSTRONG Tailgate Gala was held April 24, 2015 at the Indianapolis Colts complex. Praxis Media Group produced the event video for the second straight year that played after the dinner portion of the event.
