Child Advocates Undoing Racism Documentary Moves Into Post Production

Interviews are complete and Praxis Media Group moves into post-production on the Child Advocates Undoing Racism documentary. Shooting started in September 2015 and just wrapped up seven days ago. Undoing Racism workshops were developed by The Peoples Institute For Survival and Beyond, based in New Orleans. Child Advocates brought the training to Indianapolis in 2010 with 42 workshops and over 1400 attendees since then. People that have gone through the workshop come out with a new perspective on understanding what racism is, where it comes from, how it functions, why it persists and how it can be undone. The documentary follows the story of Child Advocates and how they discovered the workshops and brought them to Indianapolis. In the documentary we follow four people through the two day workshop. It also addresses the disproportionality of African American children in the child welfare system and how it can be “undone” with the program, Undoing Racism. Plans for a premiere of the the documentary are in the works for later this summer and the documentary will air on the Indianapolis PBS affiliate, WFYI. This preview trailer was produced to be played at the The People’s Institute’s 35th anniversary celebration May 19th-22nd in New Orleans.
